spring awakening

August 26th, 2012 — 9:48am

As Spring approaches, I’m getting some little surprises from the surroundings, especially from the brown bare trees. Like one morning, I spotted some small greens sprouting out of the tree in front of our balcony. It made my view feel really fresh. Afterwards, I had a tram ride through a street full of blooming magnolia trees. On my walk to the park, I spotted another tree that was fully blooming by the river, just like a cherry blossom. (It also smelt sweet). I guess it’s the charm of living somewhere new as everything is unexpected.

It might sound strange, but I kind of felt the same excitement when I watched Labyrinth for the first time last weekend. I wanted to see a young Jennifer Connelly in action but all of Jim Henson’s creatures were just as sweet and full of surprises. I was really happy that Chris recommended it to me. I could also picture myself getting very scared if I watched this when I was little, back in 80s.

It's kind of like a good bad dream.

bitter sweet

August 20th, 2012 — 10:25pm

Kiwi, quince, Buddah’s hand, star anice, ginger, goji berries, thyme and brown rice.

My first bottle of dream cordial finally reached its bottom last night and now I’m thinking of making a new one, with some different fruit. It feels like it’s been a long time since I had the thought of not trying to make cordial again after accidently dropping Chris’s coffee filter onto the ground (and chipping it badly), while making the last bottle. Although, the cordial did taste good…

The last drop.
