My parents and I used to live in a little Caribbean island called The Commonwealth of Dominica. There was no International school so I went to a local girls school in the capitol city Roseau for one year before I moved to England. As a fourteen year old girl who was deeply into Japanese pop culture at the time, everything I saw, felt, heard, and ate in Dominica was totally different and new but I enjoyed the change and it didn’t take me long to adapt. I also made a few really close friends at school who were kind and patient enough to take care of a strange Asian girl who at the time didn’t speak much English.

Last week I received an email from one of my closest Dominican friends, Nichole. She found me through this tiny website of mine after our silence of a few years… It was the most unexpected and surprising email I ever received!

One of my favorite things I brought back from Dominica.
